Bed Bug Laundry Bags: Collection-Day Handover Checklist

Check prepared bed bug laundry bags before collection: agreed packaging, labels, care restrictions, counts and access without reopening affected loads.

Once clothing and bedding have been prepared for bed bug laundry, collection day is not the moment to open bags and start sorting again. This checklist is for the final handover: checking the agreed packaging, identifying care restrictions and confirming that the right sealed bags can be reached. The existing preparation guide covers the earlier household bagging steps.

Before packing: confirm the accepted items and bags

Tell MyLaundress about suspected bed bugs and ask which textiles are suitable before arranging collection. Follow fabric care labels and agreed handling instructions. Sort clothing and bedding by those restrictions before sealing, not by one assumed treatment temperature. Mattress and furniture treatment are not textile laundry; use the service page for accepted and excluded items.

Prepare items in the affected room without shaking them and use the sealed bagging arrangement agreed with the service. If someone proposes dissolvable bags, confirm the suitable bags and handling arrangements first. Do not assume they replace outer containment or that an unconfirmed bag type can go straight into processing.

Check the outside of each prepared bag

  • Check the closure and visible condition without reopening the bag to recount individual garments.
  • Ensure the agreed reference can be read and keep the matching item record separately.
  • Mark care restrictions as agreed, especially low-temperature or dry-clean-only items needing assessment.
  • Keep bags apart from clean laundry and ordinary collection orders.
  • If a bag is torn, leaking or inadequately closed, seek handling advice before moving it; do not offer loose affected items at handover.

Reconcile the count before the courier arrives

Record how many sealed bags should leave and which reference each carries. In a shared household or accommodation setting, identify who is responsible for that record. If the count differs from the booking information, contact the service about the change before handover. A written count is a useful customer-side check, not a promise of a particular barcode or tracking system.

If you discover another garment after sealing the original load, do not simply open every bag again. Ask whether the additional item can be prepared separately and added to the collection. Mention any additional volume or assessment need, because it can affect the arrangements and final price.

Make access clear without exposing the load

Confirm the full postcode, entry arrangements and collection-day contact. In a building with a shared entrance, agree the handover point rather than leaving bags unattended in a corridor. Tell the service about restrictions that affect reaching the bags. A booking time is not an instruction to leave possibly affected textiles in a public or communal space.

Keep care-label questions visible

A sealed bag does not remove the need to assess unsuitable fabrics. List delicate items and dry-clean-only garments in the agreed notes and keep them separate from heat-tolerant washable textiles. Do not treat a lower-temperature wash as automatically equivalent to a bed bug treatment, or assume specialist dry-cleaning assessment guarantees every affected garment can be accepted.

Have a return plan before the bags leave

Agree return timing and a receiving contact, and ask the pest controller where cleaned textiles should be kept. Suitable textile laundry does not treat the infestation in the property. Retain enough appropriate clothing and bedding while items are away; do not rely on an unconfirmed turnaround to meet a room reopening or personal care need.

UK-wide specialist collection covers England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland where Uber courier collection is available, confirmed for the postcode during booking. National processing uses coordinated local partners and couriers. This is not national ordinary laundry or a universal London-style urgent pickup promise.

Handover questions

Should I open bags to show the contents?

Keep prepared affected loads sealed and use the agreed notes and bag count. Ask the service if further information is needed rather than unpacking at the door.

What if the packaging instructions are unclear?

Contact the service before collection. Do not guess about bag suitability or mix affected textiles into an ordinary order.
